Fashion Forecast

Searching for the Divide Between Reality and Dystopia

The Ask.

For this project, I was asked to prepare a design centric, professional, short term forecast for one classification (womenswear, menswear, or childrenswear) with a group of 4. This project was showcased through a 15 minute presentation.

This project included a cover page, mood board, video, research map of influences, target market analysis, word bank, color forecast, fabric, pattern, print, details, and trims forecast, street style forecast, runway forecast, key items, and a conclusion.

Skills.

The Process.

  • We researched a lot of current trends and found inspiration for this project through our research. We needed to develop a theme that was realistic for a forecast. With everyone in our team being overwhelmed by rapid growth of technology, we all decided to center our theme around that. We began our research on the topic of technology and how it is going to blur the lines of reality in the future.

  • We spent a lot of time finding images that properly showcased our theme and the feelings that were evoked. We had multiple shared spaces to continuously add photos to. We organized them and decided which aligned the best. From here, we began to create our moodboards and color palettes. This process helped us establish a strong theme and a strong central idea and vision. We also created a video that helps to show the vision of our forecast.

  • A majority of our time with this project was spent doing intense research on various runway looks over the past year. It was so important to us to find looks that aligned with our forecast. We had to take into account the fabrics, styles, silhouettes, accessories etc. We also needed to then organize all of the looks we found into different categories as well. This part of the process had some struggles as all of our looks needed to be from within the past year. I was finding a lot of good content that didn’t fit this criteria. It took some deep research to find the final looks we chose.

  • We then took all of our research and inspiration and put it together for our final presentation. We presented in front of Fashion Snoops and various staff and faculty. We showed all of the looks and inspiration along with the video we created.
